When we talk about building the new standard for outdoor living, this Uniontown project is exactly what we mean. From the first design sketch to the final screw, every detail was planned, executed, and finished to the highest level. This homeowner didn’t just get a deck — they got the works.
Step 1 — Planning & Permits
We started by meeting the homeowner at their Uniontown property to discuss needs, layout options, and features. Once the design was finalized, we took care of the zoning and building permits, ensuring the project was pre-approved for a smooth build.
Step 2 — Helical Pier Installation
Instead of traditional concrete footers, we used engineered helical piers — the gold standard for modern decks. Each pier is designed to hold 45,000 lbs, installed below the frost line, and comes with a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty. These ensure long-term stability and prevent shifting or settling.
Step 3 — Ground Prep for Longevity
Before framing, we installed weed-block fabric under the entire deck footprint and covered it with #57 River Rock gravel. This combination prevents weed growth, improves drainage, and keeps the underside clean and dry.
Step 4 — Precision Framing with Protection
We framed the deck with No. 1 pressure-treated lumber, setting 6×6 posts, 2×10 beams, and 2×8 joists at 16″ on center. Every joist and beam was covered in butyl joist protection tape, sealing them against moisture and extending the frame’s life by years.
Step 5 — Premium Decking Install
The homeowner chose Trex Enhance composite decking for its durability, low maintenance, and fade resistance. We installed the boards with hidden fasteners for a clean look, framed the deck with a picture-frame border, and added a divider board to eliminate unsightly butt joints.
Step 6 — Railings with Function
We installed Trex Select composite railing in white with black round aluminum spindles for a timeless, high-contrast look. The homeowner upgraded with a composite drink rail attachment — perfect for setting drinks, plates, or decor during gatherings.
Step 7 — Under-Deck Finish & Privacy
We enclosed the deck with Deckorators Voyage solid skirting in Dark Slate and built a hinged access door for storage. To complete the look and add privacy, we installed HideAway laser-cut aluminum privacy screens in a modern pattern.
Why This Is the New Standard
From helical pier foundations to joist protection tape, premium composite decking, and custom rail upgrades — this deck is built for beauty, comfort, and decades of performance. At DreamDecks, this is how we believe decks should be built.
