A Deckorators Voyage Deck Built for Grilling

This Uniontown family went from a bare backyard to a Deckorators Voyage Sedona deck with a Dark Slate border, a grilling area tucked against the bay window, and black aluminum railing topped with a Sedona drink rail.

Where They Started

A bay window and nowhere to sit

The back of this Uniontown home had a great bay window and a big yard, but nowhere to grill or sit outside.

We designed a 19 by 16 main deck with an angled 10 by 8 grilling area that tucks against the bay, plus two sets of stairs down to the yard.

What We Did

How it came together

Helical pier foundationThe deck sits on helical piers instead of dug postholes, so the footings go in fast and stay put.
Framed with a grilling areaA 19 by 16 main platform plus an angled 10 by 8 grilling area against the bay, with a divider board where they meet so there are no butt joints.
Joist tape and gravelButyl tape on top of the joists and weed fabric with river rock under the deck.
Voyage Sedona with Dark SlateDeckorators Voyage Sedona with hidden fasteners, a one board Dark Slate picture frame, and Dark Slate fascia.
Railing with a drink railBlack Preferred aluminum railing with square balusters and a Sedona drink rail board on top, so there is always a place to set a drink.
Solid skirtingSedona boards installed horizontally to close in the space under the deck, with an access door.
