A Family Deck Designed to Grow
A young family with a toddler and a newborn wanted somewhere safe to be outside together, rain or shine. We built a two story Trex Lineage Carmel deck with Lineage Jasper trim, white Trex Select railing, a cathedral gable roof, a dry patio underneath, and lighting everywhere so the evenings last longer.

Safe, covered, and built for a growing family
This family had just moved into a brand new home with nothing out back. With a toddler running around and a newborn on the way, they wanted a deck that felt safe, with room to eat together and a roof so they could be outside in the rain.
They also wanted the space under the deck to be useful, not just a dark spot behind the house. So we planned a two story build: a covered upper deck off the main floor and a dry, lit patio below it.

Every piece of this project was planned so the roof, the deck, and the space below work as one.

Trex Lineage Carmel and Jasper
Trex Lineage Carmel covers the deck and the border, with Lineage Jasper on the fascia and stair risers. Lineage is Trex’s top tier board with heat mitigating technology, so it stays cooler under bare feet.
Trex Select Railing and Gate
White Trex Select railing with black round balusters and a matching Trex aluminum gate to keep little ones safe. Compare railing
Cathedral Gable Roof
A 19 x 12 gable roof with 12 inch overhangs that ties into the house wall below the existing gable. The beams sit about 11 feet above the deck and the ridge about 15 feet, on a 5/12 pitch that matches the house. It is finished with a white vinyl soffit ceiling, white Azek wrapped posts and beams, shingles and gutters to match, fans, and recessed lights. More on covered roofs
OtterTite Dry Space
An under deck system that keeps the patio below dry and gives it a finished white ceiling. More on under deck protection
Lighting Package
17 Trex post cap lights on the railing, 8 recessed lights and a fan up in the cathedral ceiling, and 10 recessed lights and 2 fans under the deck, plus outdoor outlets. More on lighting
Helical Piers
Helical piers go in fast, carry heavy loads, and will not heave in Ohio winters.

We install an under deck system like OtterTite that catches water between the joists and carries it away, with a clean ceiling below.
